John Nixon and his parentsJohn has lived in the Lima area his entire life. He was born in Lima when his parents resided on Main Street, and spent many years in the Boy Scouts, achieving their highest honor - Eagle Scout.  John's family later moved a few miles and he graduated from Bath High School.  He furthered his education with a business degree from Lima's own Northwestern Business College (currently UNOH). 

He has been married for over 30 years to Melanie, and they have a son, Josh, and 2 daughters, Tory and Tracy. All are Lima Senior High graduates and graduated from college.

John has been employed with Nickles Bakery for over 30 years. He had been a Regional Sales Manager for the past 9 years covering most of Northwest and West Central Ohio.  After working in sales in Northwest and West Central Ohio, John is currently the Plant Manager at Nickles Bakery Lima Plant.

John served on Lima City Council in the 1st Ward from 1990 to mid 1994. He and his family moved to the 2nd Ward where he was elected and has served as the 2nd Ward Councilor from 1996 until 2007. He has served on or chaired the Finance Committee the entire time that he has been involved with the Lima City Council.   In January 2007, John was unanimously elected by fellow Council members to complete the unexpired term of our current Ohio State Representative, Matt Huffman.

John and his family are members of St. Charles Catholic Church.

By virtue of being Lima City Council President, John assigns members to and sits on all Council Committees.
